The genealogy (or the Spiritual Lineage) of His Eminence, Raees al-Muhaqiqeen, Hadrat Shaykh al Islam w'al Muslimeen goes back to the Seal of the Prophets, the Beloved Messenger of Allah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam. Hadrat Shaykh al-Islam; ‘Allama Pir Sayyad Shah Muhammad Madani al-Ashrafi al-Jilani traces this lineage in direct descent from Makhdoom al-Afaq, Hadrat Sayyad ‘Abd 'al-Razaq Nur-al‘Ayn (b. 765 AH). Hadrat Khawaja Sultan Sayyad Makhdoom Ashraf Jahangir, al-Chisti, al-Qadiri, al-Semnani, the Sultan of Semnan (near present-day Tehran in Iran) traced his descent from the Seal of Prophet's, through Imam Husayn Radi Allahu ta'ala anhu, thus his descendants later were referred to as the Husayni Sayyads.
